The Glacial Community Y decided in 2017 to take our mission international by forming partnerships in which we could offer support, resources, and volunteer hours to help strengthen our core values here, and share those with organizations around the world. To date, we have partnerships with Esperanza Viva, a Christian youth home and orphanage in Puebla, Mexico, and with the YMCA of Valparaiso, Chile. Over the course of these first few years in these partnerships we have sent multiple teams to serve and build relationships within these organizations.
MISSION TRIPS
Dupree, South Dakota
Join our YMCA team for our second year assisting the national service project of the YMCA Alumni Association. We’ll spend a week helping complete the four tiny homes that will serve the YMCA in Dupree with transitional housing for single mothers. This mission involves finish work which may include drywall, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc. No experience necessary, just a willingness to serve and follow instructions.
September 9-16, 2025
Trip Cost: $850 per person
Registration Deadline: January 12th, 2025
(Non-refundable $200 deposit due at time of registration)
Includes most meals, lodging at the Y, cultural activities and tours, training, transportation to/from Dupree (YMCA van) and all on-site transport, and local sightseeing.
Chile Mission Trip – Valparaiso
January 9-18, 2026
Trip Cost: $2,500 per person
Registration begins summer of 2025.

Includes: All transportation, lodging, food (while on-site), insurance, ministry expenses, team t-shirts.
Esperanza Viva Youth Home, Puebla Mexico
Join the Glacial Community YMCA for a week that changes lives. Spend a week with us at Esperanza Viva, a youth home and orphanage located in Puebla, Mexico. This week consists of serving the staff through a designated morning work project, loving on the 90+ children who call EV home in the afternoons and evenings, two cultural experiences in Puebla, and growing deeper in your faith. Esperanza Viva operates under the ministry of Living Hope International and has been in operation since 1995. It’s a beautiful campus made up of beautiful souls who are ready to welcome you to their home. You will be forever changed.
