You are invited to join our fun, self-paced Climbing Club! Each club level will challenge you or your child to learn more than just going up the wall! Each level will consist of a punch card with various skills taught and practiced. Each individual MUST take levels in order. Club Members should come during CLUB CLIMB hours on Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:45pm-4:45pm where instructors will be teaching punch card skills. (Ages 8+).  Join Climbing Club at anytime throughout the year!

Level 1: Base Club – Learn more than just going up! Receive a Climbing Club water bottle at this level to bring with you for future Club Climb hours.

Level 2: Ridge Club – Build from intro skills with more new challenges. Receive a Climbing Club shirt, patch or frame (while supplies last) when you complete this level.

Level 3: Peak Club – Keep building on your new climbing knowledge with more techniques and terminology. Each participant who is ages 8-12 years old will receive a climbing journal after completion of card. If climbing club participant is 13 years or older, once they complete this level they will get a choice of a climbing journal or 50% off of our Intro to Top Rope class so they can attend the class and earn their Intro to Top Rope belay tag.

Level 4: Summit Club – Are you up for the challenge? Club participants will continue to expand their climbing knowledge and abilities.

2024-2025 School Year Dates

• Climbing Club members are welcome to climb on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45pm-4:45pm during the following sessions:
  • Fall I Session (September 4th- October 23rd, 2024)
  • Fall II Session (October 28th- December 18th, 2024): no club climb on November 27th due to break from session.
  • Winter I Session (January 6th-February 19th, 2025)
  • Winter II Session (February 24th-April 16th, 2025): no club climb March 24th-March 26th due to spring break.
  • Spring Session (April 21st-June 11th, 2025): no club climb on Monday, May 26th due to Memorial Day
  • Please note: Climbing Club is not offered during the summer session.

We’ll focus on the fun-filled basics of climbing through bouldering. Our goal is to help your little one increase coordination and gain confidence on the wall. Parent participation is encouraged. Ages 3-4.

Participants will focus on the building blocks of Rock Climbing, teamwork and having tons of fun! The goal during each class is that they will continue to challenge themselves and become more comfortable at the climbing wall. Ages 5-6.

Our goal is to help young climbers build confidence, overcome fears, work with others, and have fun! Climbers will continue to grow in technique, skills and strength in rock climbing. Ages 7-8.

Looking to gain a new climbing wall skill? Learn how to top rope climb at the Y (YMCA members only)! Top Rope climbing is a style of climbing where the climber is securely attached to a rope which then passes up, through an anchor system at the top of the climb, and back down to a belayer at the base of the climb. We recommend taking this class with a friend, however, it is not a requirement.

During this class our instructors will cover the figure eight knot, PBUS belay method, how to safely give and take slack and how to communicate with your belay partner. After you take the class, you will need to come in the following Monday or Wednesday at 4:45-5:00pm (right after Climbing Club and before Open Climb) to take the Intro to Top Rope Belay Assessment. The Intro to Top Rope Belay Assessment will require:

• Short online quiz
• Show climbing wall staff how to tie a proper figure eight knot and ATC set up
• Use proper commands with partner or climbing wall staff
• Belay two test falls with a weighted plate
• Belay two test falls with your partner **If you do not have a partner to belay, our staff will act as the climber and have a back up belayer

You will need to have a YMCA Climbing Wall Orientation on your account BEFORE attending this class. (Ages 13+) The Intro to Top Rope Belay certification is good for 3 years.

Ages 4+ may climb using the top rope routes, but their parent/guardian will need to take the Intro to Top Rope Belay class and pass the Intro to Top Rope Belay Assessment.

We do NOT accept belay certifications from other gyms. 

Come challenge yourself on the NEW routes, as well as your family & friends!  See how many points you can score by completing the routes and our speed route!  All participants will have a chance to enter a raffle for various prizes!

Age Divisions:

• Ages 4-6: 10:00am
• Ages 7-9: 10:45am
• Ages 10-12: 11:30am
• Ages 13-17: 12:15pm
• Ages 18- 39: 1:00pm
• Ages 40 & Older: 1:45pm

**Participants must register and compete in age division for which they will be on day of competition. Please note- based on registrations, event timeline may be updated!
