Teen Advisory Board (Ages 14-18)
The YMCA Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a leadership opportunity for high school students ages 14-18 to actively shape YMCA programs and services. Volunteer board members collaborate with the Youth Program Department to provide input on teen interests, emerging issues, and community needs, while also creating and leading their own projects, such as mentorship programs and community service initiatives. Meetings will take place during Oconomowoc High School’s pride hour on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from October to May, with a total of 16 meetings. Zoom meetings may also be scheduled for upcoming or time-sensitive events.
TAB members will develop essential leadership, organizational, and teamwork skills while making a direct impact on their community. They will actively contribute by planning, promoting, and leading programs and dedicate at least 10 hours to volunteering at YMCA events. Teens will gain valuable experience in project management, civic engagement, and youth advocacy. Applicants must be in or going into high school in the fall of 2025, adhere to the YMCA Code of Conduct, and submit applications by Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Youth in Government (Ages 12-18)
Youth and Government™ or (YIG) a national YMCA program, empowers students from every corner of the U.S. by giving them the opportunity to learn about—and experience—government policies and methodologies firsthand. This unique program is made up of thousands of teens nationwide in state-organized, model-government programs. Participants immerse themselves in experiential civic engagement, debate issues that affect citizens in their state and even propose legislation. The program culminates with teens serving as delegates at their state conference, debating bills on the floor of the legislature.
Delegates from across Wisconsin convene at a Model Government conference each year to debate proposals they’ve written to improve our state. To prepare for the conference, there will be a pre-government session on Saturday, February 1st in central Wisconsin (location TBD). The Model Government conference will held at the Wisconsin State Capitol from Friday, March 7th- Sunday, March 9th, 2025. The fee to attend the conference is $100 and includes two nights lodging, meeting spaces at the hotel and Capitol, evening activities, materials, and state dinner at the Model Government Conference.
Meeting times and dates will change and will be established by the delegation (middle school & high school). For more information about the program, contact us at [email protected]!
